"For one thing I don't know anyone there so the last thing I want to do is give the wrong impression, which wearing skanky clothes like that will definitely do for me. For another have you ever tried wearing those things? I have, and they are as uncomfortable as hell!"

Fast Forward (13)

Hello all my fellow bloggers and readers, another week has begun and it's time to look forward and see what this week will bring.
I hope you will play along.

Book related

It has been a crazy week last week and I had to do so many things that reading wasn't something I got to do much of. I still need to read about 200 pages to finish Unearthly by Cynthia Hand, but it's so great that I sure it won't take that long.
I'm also reading Tales Of Aradia the Last Witch by Laura Antonia Freeman, very interesting and mysterious book. So far it's very good.

I'm sorry that I still need to post my reviews for the last books I read, I hope I can get it done this week.

I need to mention my giveaway.
I have a giveaway going on where you can win an e-copy of Accidental Abduction by Eve Langlais.
The contest is open worldwide and last day to enter is Sunday 6/12.
There's a very good chance to win as there's not that many entries yet, so if you haven't entered and you think it's interesting, please do.
You can win an e-copy on the other tour stops as well.
Go to contest.

Other things this week

I don't have many things planned this week, it was a tough weekend so I'm relaxing today. I have plans with a friend to go to the movies one of these days, and then I need to catch up on some reading. (I always seem to need to catch up on some reading, there's to much I want to read:-)
I also need to do some cleaning, it's so boring but it needs to be done.

Tell me your FFW:
I would love to hear what you are reading this week and also tell me, what are your plans for the week?

GIVEAWAY! Win Accidental Abduction by Eve Langlais

Author Bio

So you want to know a little about me? Well, I'm in my mid thirties, married 11 years to a wonderful supportive man--yes, he's a hunk-- who gave me three beautiful--noisy-- children aged ten, seven and four. I work as a webmistress/customer service rep from home and in my spare time--of which there is tragically too little-- I write, read or Wii.

I was born in British Columbia, but being a military brat lived a little bit everywhere--Quebec, New Brunswick, Labrador, Virginia (USA) and finally Ontario. My family and I currently reside in the historic town of Bowmanville, about an hour or so out of Toronto.

Wow was that ever boring!!! Now for the fun stuff.

I'm writing fantasy the way I like it--hot with a touch of magic. I enjoy reading and writing stories that push the envelope of what we consider normal, and I love to cross the line into fantasy. I tend to have alot of sexual tension in my tales as I think all torrid love affairs start with a tingle in our tummies. My heroes are very male, you could even say border line chest thumping at times. So if you want a truly sensitive man, I am not for you. But that said, my men will do almost anything for the one they love. Even babysit.

I'd love to tell you more, but judging from the sounds in the living room the children are at it again, which means I'll need a mop and loads of patience. What I really need is a robot maid like Jane Jetson! Thanks for checking me out and hope to see you again soon.

Even odder, despite her decision to not get involved with her wickedly hot captor, she can’t help craving his touch.

Tren retired from his job as a mercenary so he could enjoy life, but he never counted on the boredom of normalcy. The acquisition of rare items has somewhat filled the void, but his accidental abduction of an outspoken earthling, who doesn’t know when to shut up, turns his life upside. Her fiery spirit draws him while at the same time drives him insane. Struggling with his urges, he must decide-- throttle her barbarian neck or ravish her delectably lush body?

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View

This week's question is:

How many books do you read in a week? And in what format do you read them, or listen to them?

A couple of books every week, that's my goal and what I normally have the time for. It depends on the size of the book and of cause what book it is.

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Crazy-For-Books

This week's question is:

"What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked?  Which have you disliked?"

Harry Potter and Precious comes to mind as movie adaptions I liked as for some I didn't The Golden Compas and Eragon I felt like so much were missing even some important things to understand the story. So people who hadn't read the book could understand the details.

Interview with Tessa Gratton author of Blood Magic

I'm so happy to welcome Tessa Gratton to the blog today. She's stopping by for an interview about herself and her debut novel, Blood Magic.
Blood Magic is a stand-alone novel and it's coming May 24th, 2011 from Random House Children’s Books.
Feel free to post any comments and/or questions you have for Tessa Gratton in the comments.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a wizard. Or a paleontologist. Maybe both.
I’m neither now, but magic and monsters are still my favorite things.

Born in Okinawa, Japan while my Dad was on duty with the US Navy, I moved around throughout my childhood and traveled even more. Reading and theater were the two things that got me through it all.

Despite having traveled all over the world, I settled in Kansas (where the flying monkeys live) with my partner, two cats, and a mutant mutt named Grendel.

Where is your favourite spot to read?
On the deck in my backyard, under the cottonwood and birch trees, when the wind is blowing and the sun is warm.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
Doing exactly what I’m doing now, but hopefully in a house with land.

If you could do magic what would it be?
I’d want to be able to control the wind.

What inspired you to write Blood Magic?
I wanted to write a book about siblings and put magic in it that is as close to what I think real magic would be, if it existed.

For people who are interested in reading your book, will you describe what
Blood Magic is about?
It’s about finding out your own power, about grief and family, about how history defines us but also how we can defy our own histories. And cemeteries and kissing.

Mention three words about Silla Kennicot and three about Nick Pardee.
Silla: determined, melodramatic, loyal
Nick: obnoxious, slick, compassionate

If you had to choose one thing you like the most from the cover of Blood Magic, what would it be?
The title font! I adore it!

What do you look the most forward to when your book is released?
Seeing it on shelves where I’ve always bought books.

What are you working on now?
A book I can’t tell you anything about. LOL. Sorry.

Which books are sitting at the top of your TBR pile?
DULL BOY by Sarah Cross, THE IRON WITCH by Karen Mahoney, SUPERNATURALLY by Kiersten White, SHIP BREAKER by Paolo Bacigalupi, THE IRON THORN by Caitlin Kitteredge, LAST SACRIFICE by Richell Mead.

Thank you so much Tessa for stopping by I'm really looking forward to reading Blood Magic.

For Nick Pardee and Silla Kennicot, the cemetery is the center of everything.

Nick is a city boy angry at being forced to move back to the nowhere town of Yaleylah, Missouri where he grew up. He can’t help remembering his mom and the blood magic she practiced – memories he’s tried for five years to escape. Silla, though, doesn’t want to forget; her parents’ apparent murder-suicide left her numb and needing answers. When a book of magic spells in her dad’s handwriting appears on her doorstep, she sees her chance to unravel the mystery of their deaths.

Together they plunge into the world of dark magic, but when a hundred-year-old blood witch comes hunting for the bones of Silla’s parents and the spell book, Nick and Silla will have to let go of everything they believe about who they are, the nature of life and death, and the deadly secrets that hide in blood.

Now it's time for you dear readers to post any comments and questions you have for Tessa:-) Thank you for reading.

Review: Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins

Book two in the Hex Hall series

About Demonglass

Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch.

That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (aka witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered the family secret, and that her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping Prodigium off the face of the earth.

Turns out, Sophie’s a demon, one of only two in the world—the other being her father. What’s worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will destroy her powers.

But once Sophie arrives she makes a shocking discovery. Her new friends? They’re demons too. Meaning someone is raising them in secret with creepy plans to use their powers, and probably not for good. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they’re using Archer to do it. But it’s not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she?

Review

This book continues almost where Hex Hall left off.

I like how we got a layer deeper into the characters and we get to know them a little better.
There’s the whole issue with Chloe’s dad and there’s a love triangle between Sophie , Cal and Archer.
The book is a little slow in the middle but I didn’t feel it because of all the things that were going on at other times in the book.

Sophie must now juggle with some very hard decisions about herself and her future.
She struggles with her emotions and doing the right thins. She has a difficult time finding out who to trust and what the whole truth is.

Demonglass was for me even better than Hex Hall, it’s even more intense and I felt that I’m as a reader got answers to a lot of my questions from book one but I then got a whole bunch of new questions that hopefully get’s answered in the next book.

The ending, what can I say. There we have a cliff-hanger and a big one.
I’m a fan of this series and I will have a hard time waiting for the next book. I look forward to the release.

I give Demonglass 5 out of 5.
Other books in this series:
3# Untitled (2012)

Review: The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong

Book three in the Darkest Powers series

About The Reckoning

My name is Chloe Saunders. I’m fifteen, and I would love to be normal.

But normal is one thing I’m not.

For one thing, I’m having these feelings for a certain antisocial werewolf and his sweet-tempered brother–who just happens to be a sorcerer–but, between you and me, I’m leaning toward the werewolf.

Not normal.

My friends and I are also on the run from an evil corporation that wants to get rid of us…permanently.

Definitely not normal.

And finally, I’m a genetically altered necromancer who can raise the dead, rotting corpses and all, without even trying.

As far away from normal as it gets.

Review

Finally I got to read this third and last book in Kelley Armstrong’s Darkest Powers series. I feel like I’ve been waiting to get the book from the library forever.

I really enjoyed this book and I liked it almost as much as the previous one.
However I felt like there were some things which were not finished and I was left with some unanswered questions. I know that the main plot got an ending but there were some of the side plots that did not have an end. I missed that but other than that, the book was a great read and I loved that I finally found out who Chloe chose, there was this whole love triangle going on.

All the treads and clues from the previous two books were finally put together and the “mystery” was solved. That was what I had hoped for and that made for a great ending to this series.

I’m very interested in reading more from Kelley Armstrong she did a fantastic job at writing this series. She has a way to really catch you with her writing and the story she creates.

I give The Reckoning 4 out of 5.

Previous books:
1# The Summoning
2# The Awakening

Review: Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione

Review

I liked the story between the main character the tough demon slayer Tayla and the hot demon doctor Eidolon.
They have a very intense relationship from the beginning. It’s very classic love/hate and I love it.

Tayla is a strong character who put’s her foot down and have a very strong opinion of what’s right. Sometimes she sees the world a little too black and white even when she’s been proven wrong.

Eidolon is very interesting, I like how he’s not completely the good guy in the story, he is a demon after all and you get to see some of the darker motivations and urges that lures beneath the surface.

Between the two of them, they have a great attraction and passion that you feel as a reader.
The story is full of action and love with a lot of sex. It all goes well together in the story.

The plot was a little boring and forgettable I found myself looking forward to the interactions between Tayla and Eidolon and for me that’s what drove the story forward and it kept you wanting more.

I give Pleasure Unbound 3 out of 5.

Next books in this series:
2# Desire Unchained
3# Passion Unleashed
4# Ecstasy Unveiled
5# Sin Undone

The Thinkers may have brainwashed the rest of the population, but Vi is determined to think for herself.

But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they're set on convincing Vi to become one of them...starting by brainwashing Zenn. Vi can't leave Zenn in the Thinkers' hands, but she's wary of joining the rebellion, especially since that means teaming up with Jag. Jag is egotistical, charismatic, and dangerous--everything Zenn's not. Vi can't quite trust Jag and can't quite resist him, but she also can't give up on Zenn.

This is a game of control or be controlled. And Vi has no choice but to play.

It's difficult for me to choose a specific scene but two books that have made an impression lately are:
Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires #4, review here) and The Forest of Hands and Teeth that I'm reading now.

Are you going to Book Expo America (BEA) and/or the Book Blogger Convention (BBC) this year?

Oh I wish I was! I would love to meet other bloggers, there are so many of you bloggers and blogs that have inspired me and it would mean the world to me to get to know some of you better and meet you in person.
Unfortunately I live in Denmark so it's not that easy (it's kind of expensive and I need a place to stay;-) but maybe someday.
I hope all of you that are going will have a great time, enjoy it for me too!

Review: Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

Book one in the Hex Hall series

About Hex Hall

Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.

By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.

Review

I have always enjoyed reading about witches since I was little. There has always been something really intriguing about them and I was jealous of how they could cast a spell and make things easier.

I remember the first time I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Willow almost instantly became my favourite character because of who she was. A little shy but a very good friend and she always had the best intentions even though she made mistakes sometimes.
Sophie the main character in Hex Hall reminds me a little of Willow and she has some of the same qualities as well as a great wit, maybe a little immature at times but she’s a very likeable protagonist.

This book has a lot of elements that was familiar to me and it had witches, werewolves, vampires and fairies which I have seen in many of the other books I have read.
The setting “The school” was also something that’s seen before and at times I found the book predicting.
One of the good things is that there are enough original things to make the story interesting and that makes the difference so it becomes memorable from other books in the same genre and setting it aside from many other books with the same theme.

I read this book in one setting. It's an easy book to get through and I was never bored.
There were a lot of twists and turns along the way, some I guessed and some I didn’t.
I think Rachel Hawkins did a fantastic job at keeping me entertained and there were some really fun moments in between.

I give Hex Hall 4 out of 5

3# Untitled (2012)

"Waiting On" Wednesday (11) Blood Bound and Silence

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week are:

Blood Bound by Rachel Vincent
(Unbound #1)
Expected publication: August 23rd 2011

I'm very excited for this book. I cannot wait to start a new series and a new adventure with Rachel Vincent.

Most can't touch the power. But Liv Warren is special – a paranormal tracker who follows the scent of blood.

Liv makes her own rules, and the most important one is trust no one.

But when her friend's daughter goes missing, Liv has no choice but to find the girl. Thanks to a childhood oath, Liv can't rest until the child is home safe. But that means trusting Cam Caballero, the former lover forbidden to her.

Bound by oath and lost in desire for a man she cannot have, Liv is racing to save the child from a dark criminal underworld where secrets, lies, trauma and danger lurk around every corner...every touch...every kiss.

And more blood will be spilled before it's over...

Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick
(Hush, Hush #3)
Expected publication: October 4th 2011

I've just finished Crescendo and I'm very interested to know how this story will continue.

The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.

Cover art (15) Silence, Timeless & Blood Bound

I'm almost finished with book 2 and I cannot wait to get my fingers in Silence. What an amazing cover.
How great does Patch look and the water that's beautiful. Normally i like a lot of colours in a cover but this really works.
Expected publication: October 4th 2011.

I really like that these books keeps the same theme and still are so different. I love Egypt so I'm crazy about the pyramids and the Sfinx in the background.
Expected publication: March 1st 2012.

Yah news from Rachel Vincent, I love her Shifters series and I love the covers on Blood Bound.
Both of them are amazing! The US cover is at the top and the UK cover is the one on the bottom. I have a hard time deciding which one I love the most.

"Waiting On" Wednesday (10) The Deadliest Bite

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week are:

The Deadliest Bite by Jennifer Rardin
(Jaz Parks #8)
Expected publication: June 2nd 2011

I have not started this series yet, I've waited so I could read all of them together. Jaz sounds like a great character and I cannot wait for this to be released.

I have two choices. Carve Brude's name into Hell's bile-encrusted gates. Or lose my soul.

After an assassination attempt on Vayl, I find myself pulled into a tangled web that takes the gang to Romania. So how will I save a ghost, rescue a demon, and cheat the Great Taker out of a soul he's slavering for while defeating my nastiest foe yet so that Vayl can, at last, cherish a few precious years with his sons? With careful planning, major violence, and one (hopefully) final trip to Hell
