On My Wishlist (3)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday.
It's a place where you can list all the books you desperately want but haven't actually bought yet.
They can be old, new or forthcoming.
Read more about it HERE.

My wishlist:

Firelight
Sophie Jordan
(Firelight #1)
Published September 7th 2010

I just saw the cover for the second book in this series and it reminded me how much I really want to read this series.

Firelight description:
A hidden truth.
Mortal enemies.
Doomed love.

Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet among her kind, she nearly pays with her life. Until a beautiful stranger saves her. A stranger who was sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki—a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form.

Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away—if it dies she will be left as a human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy.

Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide...

Hex Hall
Rachel Hawkins
(Hex Hall #1)
Published March 2nd 2010

I have an ARC on Demonglass and I cannot wait to get started on this series. I have heard great things about Hex Hall so now I need to find me a copy.

Hex Hall description:
Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.

By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.

As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

Hard Bitten
Chloe Neill
(Chicagoland Vampires #4)
Expected publication: May 3rd 2011

I LOVE this series it's so great and I really look forward to this book, May feels like a lifetime away...

Hard Bitten description:
Times are hard for newly minted vampire Merit. Ever since shapeshifters announced their presence to the world, humans have been rallying against supernaturals--and they're camping outside of Cadogan House with protest signs that could turn to pitchforks at any moment. Inside its doors, things between Merit and her Master, green-eyed heartbreaker Ethan Sullivan are ... tense. But then the mayor of Chicago calls Merit and Ethan to a clandestine meeting and tells them about a violent vamp attack that has left three women missing. His message is simple: get your House in order. Or else.

Merit needs to get to the bottom of this crime, but it doesn't help that she can't tell who's on her side. So she secretly calls in a favor from someone who's tall, dark, and part of underground vamp group that may have some deep intel on the attack. Merit soon finds herself in the heady, dark heart of Chicago's supernatural society--a world full of vampires who seem too ready to fulfill the protesting human's worst fears, and a place where she'll learn that you can't be a vampire without getting a little blood on your hands...

I have all three of these on my wishlist for a while now. Still haven't gotten around to actually buying them (why is money always a problem for the average book fan?) I especially love the covers of Firelight and Hex Hall.

I have sort of a same/reverse maybe list? That's weird, lol. I have Hex Hall, need Demon Glass. Have all of the Chloe Neill Chicagoland Vampires, want the newest one when it comes out. Want to start the Firelight series when I have time! So, nice list. :)

I skipped my Wishlist this week since I cleaned it out for probably the next ..age at one of the Borders closing sales and did my first non-review, Non-Wishlistbloggy posts instead. Just a Saturday something if anyone's interested while I'm making the rounds of my usual Saturday haunts. :)

Hope you get to read these soon, especially Hex Hall. I let that book sit on my shelf for 8 months before picking it up. It was a pleasant surprise for me. If you're curious, here's my review.
